Mike Huckabee Doesn’t Believe in Constitution
Posted on January 15, 2008
Update: Now he is pandering like crazy as he flip-flops on the his national smoking ban.
If I may quote a famouse liberal…”You say you wanna change the Constitution, well you know…we all wanna change your head.” Mike Huckabee looks like he is running for theocrat of America instead of President.
“[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it’s a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that’s what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards,” Huckabee said, referring to the need for a constitutional human life amendment and an amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman.
I think we have a pretty clear portrait of a one-note candidate: Vote for me, because I’m the Christian here. This makes me very uncomfortable, because I worry that if elected, Mike Huckabee would not govern by a clearly articulated set of conservative principles.
In fact, many of his positions, both foreign and domestic, are basically liberal; for example, his reference to our “arrogant” — that is, interventionist — foreign policy, and his nine-year criminal-pardon spree in Arkansas, issuing more than all neighboring states combined. Except on social issues, Mike Huckabee is at least as liberal as John McCain.
Instead of a firm set of principles, Huckabee would be guided by his own personal spiritual revelation on each issue, just like another former Southern governor who became president. And I don’t mean that other feller from Arkansas.
America, please wake up about Huckabee. He’s an idiot.
With Mike Huckabee admitting that his belief as to what God wants is such an outsized part of his political thinking, how on earth would you argue a man out of wrongheaded policy? If it’s really what God wants, what have piddling earthly arguments to do with it?
Color me a bit skeptical that Mike Huckabee is now anti-amnesty. After all, just a year or two ago it was What God Wanted to offer illegals in-state tuition and other benefits. I can’t imagine that God Himself has changed his mind on this, even though Mike Huckabee claims that he himself, and God Himself, apparently did.

I wasn’t expecting to see an article like this on a site entitled “Stop The ACLU”, considering the ACLU would be first in line to fight an unconstitutional theocracy.
He must want to be President pretty badly.
I don’t think you have to worry about Elmer Gantry trying to turn our constitution into the KJV of the bible.
Elmer is working the Evangelicals now, once he gets what he wants he will drop them like a hot potato, until the next election.
Elmer is telling the faithful what they want to hear as all good demagogues do. Demagogues following through with
their promises do not have a very good record. I am sure he will not be an exception.
Well, surprise Cody. Some people go too far for even me. By the way, the ACLU fight free speech of Christians protected by the Constitution. I don’t want anything amended on that document without a revolution and the people behind it.
It’s about time!!
So it’s ok to define marriage is between 2 men or 2 women and killing unborns is choice but it’s not ok to amend the constitution to protect marriage and lives of the unborns.
So what is you religion you are trying to force on everyone else? I suppose your God is money or maybe something else. If you knew the Signers of the U.S. Constitution then you would realize that most if not all were trying to please their God. If we actually did what the U.S. Constitution states then there would be no need for a “human life amendment” after all the Signers stated quite clearly their intent was to secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity and then granted everyone the due process of law before being deprived of the right to life. Children whom are unborn are clearly considered our posterity and so have their right to life protected by the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments just like the rest of us.
O.K. then Kerwin, why don’t we start with the first amendment then. Lets change that one to the first commandment. Instead of freedom of religion, lets have no other god before Yahweh. What Huckabee just said was a wide open comment, that if we were to accept, would leave things in a dangerous posisiton.
Of course it is also a ridiculous statement he could never get past Congress.
Reminder to the regulars: I’m one of the most outspoken proponents of a literal interpretation of the Constitution.
Ya’ll can amend it however you like. In fact, I implore you to.
What I can’t stand is the idea that we can just reinterpret it willy-nilly and BOTH parties have done just that regularly and unashamedly.
Nonsense. If you accept that life begins at conception, abortion is a violent crime. Per Article I Section 8 and the 10th amendment, crimes are to be punished by the state.
It’s a state issue unless you pass an amendment.
Jay: The ACLU has also defended Christian organizations. Besides, displaying the 10 Commandments on government-owned property doesn’t count as free speech.
