Hey Iowa! Huckabee Makes the List of Top Ten Corrupt Politicians

Posted on December 28, 2007

Side by side with the other liberal in conservative clothing running for President Rudy in Judicial Watch’s top ten list of corrupt politicians.

6. Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR): Governor Huckabee enjoyed a meteoric rise in the polls in December 2007, which prompted a more thorough review of his ethics record. According to The Associated Press: “[Huckabee’s] career has also been colored by 14 ethics complaints and a volley of questions about his integrity, ranging from his management of campaign cash to his use of a nonprofit organization to subsidize his income to his destruction of state computer files on his way out of the governor’s office.” And what was Governor Huckabee’s response to these ethics allegations? Rather than cooperating with investigators, Huckabee sued the state ethics commission twice and attempted to shut the ethics process down.

Read more on this at the Weekly Standard.

Now, just in case I’ve got some Huckabee supporter from Iowa’s attention, there are many other reasons you should change your mind about supporting him.

1. Foreign policy ignorance and lack of general common sense. The latest idiotic fumble was his failure in geography.

Not to pick on Gov. Huckabee, but — again — in times of crises, little details count. Pakistan shares its western border with Afghanistan … Not an eastern border.

Jonathan Martin writes:

The more he tries to talk about national security, the worse it seems he comes off sounding. In typical Huck fashion, though, his solution to bad press is only more press. He’s holding a media conference call this afternoon where such matters as the above will be rehashed and perhaps given fresh legs.

Whether its idiotic statements like that, or not understanding why we have a trade embargo on Cuba….the list of flubs are numerous.

2. He is a nanny stater. He wants to be your mommy. Tell you what to eat and not eat, how much to exercize, and create laws to keep you from smoking. That, my friends, is a liberal way of thinking.

3. They call him tax-hike Mike for a reason. The Club for Growth have been all over him on this one.

1996 Sales Tax Hike: Huckabee campaigned for an amendment to raise the sales tax
1999 Gas and Diesel Fuel Tax Hike
2001 Cigarette Tax Hike
2001 Nursing Home Bed Tax
2002 Grocery Tax: Huckabee opposed repeal
2003 Income Surcharge Tax
2003 Tobacco Tax Hike
Taxes on Internet Access
2006 Beer Tax: Huckabee opposed letting the tax expire

Ahhh, but you say…he is pro-life! Well, for the most part. Only when money comes around does ethics get in the way. If you haven’t heard yet, you will soon. He took over $52,000 from an organization that specializes in embryonic stem cell research. The word is finally starting to spread on this.

Thanks to the blogs, and no thanks to the old media, the truth about Huckabee is finally starting to get out there. That is a national poll where he slipped back down to second place, hopefully Iowa is listening as well.

Look for the Huckabacklash. I agree with his state chairman, life would have been easier if Huck had “peaked two weeks later.”

I don’t usually resort to ad hominem attacks, but voters in Iowa are obviously not very intelligent. Huckabee is a disaster! Why is it so hard to pick a candidate who will actually govern as a conservative. Hey Iowa, vote for Mitt or Fred and be done with the corrupt and liberal Huckabee!

    *heh*

And that’s not even exploring the Governor from Tyson Foods’ record on illegal aliens.

BTW, I think Huckabee’s problem is geographical, not geometrical. He’s able to triangulate almost as well as the Clintoons…

Hey thanks David for pointing out my error. I’m commenting my thanks so that I look like the ass and not you, since I corrected the error.

Actually the complaints against Huckabee are fairly normal complaints. I have heard that Fred Thompson has problems with ethics in regard to PAC money. His son certainly benefited from his actions to the tune of $178,000. I am sure a little more digging will find a whole lot more problems.

Another Washington based “mainstream conservative” group finds fault with Huckabee? Thats a shocker.

The list is in alphabetical order so Clinton isn’t necessarily the most corrupt. Not sure why Larry Craig is on that list. Replace him with William Jefferson. Larry Craig is hypocritical and stupid but not necessarily corrupt.

Huckabee is certainly corrupt. He registered his housewarming party as a wedding reception to avoid financing laws. All his talk about Christ and he is now under several ethics reviews. Slick Willie and now the Trickie Huckster. Arkansas is representing as well as California and New York.
