Does Jesus Endorse Huckabee?
Posted on December 6, 2007
Huckabee is getting a hard enough time from other bloggers for what he said in the above video. I’m gonna give him the pass on it.
Wow. Huckabee’s been endorsed by both Chuck Norris AND Jesus Christ.
Dang. Here I was looking at poll numbers, advertising, and endorsements, when I should have been detailing and quantifying the “not human” factor in the race.
When your entire candidacy is, it seems, being propelled by “the same power that helped a little boy with two fish and five loaves feed a crowd of five thousand people,” you can’t reverse your religiously-based positions lightly. After all, your main constituency is the Host of Heaven itself.
I just find it insulting, though I appreciate Huckabee’s context, it is not the context of the majority of Americans he needs to appeal to. Maybe he should try out for the NFL, or go back to televangelism, both venues where this stuff plays much better.
His surge in the polls is caused by the same forces that allowed Jesus to feed the five thousand. Well: what else is he going to believe?
I guess this means Huckabee thinks his supporters in New Hampshire are really $hi++y at praying, since he’s in fourth place there with single-digit poll numbers. Either that or the Granite State’s recently-installed God Blocker 9000 (TM) anti-divinity force-field is working quite well.
I don’t want Huckabee for President anymore than these guys do, but I don’t think his intentions were to imply that Jesus was endorsing him. I think he was attempting to thank God for his guidance. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m gonna give him the benefit of the doubt on this and just stick to critiquing him on the issues.
From Joe Carter, Huckabee’s e-press guy:
Let me clarify, while Governor Huckabee endorses Jesus, he certainly isn’t saying that Jesus endorses his candidacy.
Like most Christians, Governor Huckabee believes in giving God the credit for the blessings—particuarly the unexplainable good fortune—that come our way. That is all he was trying to say, as I’m sure, most people will recognize.
That was my initial reaction. I understand if you take what he said at face value, it will be hard for him to explain why Jesus changes his mind after his poll numbers start falling, but…I really don’t think that is what he meant. What I mean is, I don’t think he meant exactly what he said. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m gonna stay away from attacking him on his, most likely mis-stated, religious expression. People can’t always be well spoken. He has plenty of other flaws to point out as a candidate in my opinion.
However, with this many reactions…it is gonna be something he will need to address. After all, if it’s God moving Huckabee’s poll numbers…who is moving Hillary’s?

When asked if God was solely responsible for his surge in the polls, Huckabee clarified: “I’m saying that when people pray, things happen.â€
“I’m not saying that God wants me to be elected. The last time I checked, he hadn’t registered in any of the states to vote. If he does register, be sure to let me know, because I will ask for his vote.â€
Daniel. Did you read the entire post here? No. You absolutely didn’t or you wouldn’t have responded like you did.
