Nutroots Turn on Obama
Posted on November 12, 2007
Michelle Malkin points to an interesting development. Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama made a fatal flaw on last night’s Meet the Press. He acknowledged that there is a Social Security crisis and offered his very liberal idea of a “solution”….which of course is a tax increase.
“I think the best way to approach this is to adjust the cap on the payroll tax so that people like myself are paying a little bit more and people who are in need are protected,†the Illinois senator said.
“That is the option that I will be pushing forward.â€
Currently, only the first $97,500 of a person’s annual income is taxed. The amount is scheduled to rise to $102,000 next year.
Obama’s proposal could include a gap or “doughnut hole†to shield middle-income earners from paying more in taxes, he said.
Of course this was a huge mistake, because according to the nutroots, the Social Security crisis is a rightwing lie.
Barack Obama, please realize that you are assisting the right’s efforts to get rid of Social Security. Their strategy is to make the public think that the program is in trouble and then sweep in with their “solution.†…IS your heart in the right place? Social Security is not in trouble. Stop saying it is.
Barack Obama is echoing the right’s destructive narrative about Social Security being in crisis. The crisis is that Reagan and then Bush took all the money from the Social Security Trust Fund to use for tax cuts for the rich. (Clinton’s surpluses were paying it back, Bush reversed that.) And now the Trust Fund is going to need some of that money back .
One had better walk the thin line drawn by the nutroots or they will turn on you like a rabid dog. After all, they think they made you so they’ll do their best to unmake you if you don’t stay in line. In today’s political world where the left have let the nutroots gain so much control of their party, Obama could have just made a fatal flaw. Things can turn on a dime, but when the big lefty blogs speak, most moonbat bots obey. It will be interesting to see if Obama can recover from this one. This could be the nail in his coffin.
Such a sad change of events for an obvious rock star. Plus…an inferiority complex that prevents blacks from voting for Obama? Wow!

I’m not surprised. The overall goal for the dems at this point is a rebirth of higher taxes. Not just for the “social security” issue. In which at this point the dems will make promises on every different issue for those extra middle of the roader votes.
I’m curious to see where Hillary stands on this. Is she for it and against it?
Barack Attack!
Jay at Stop the ACLU notes the rapid reaction to Barack Obama's remarks about raising Social Security taxes by the nutroots.

I agree that this is typical behavior for the nutroots, however let’s get real, the right
does it too. How many SoCons threatening revolt if Rudy is elected? We all have our holy
grails and theirs is Social Security. The problem with social security is that it is a
Ponzi Scheme. If I developed a Ponzi Scheme it would be illegal however when the government
does it, it is called social security. How does that work?
The bottom line is that most of the Dem’s economic agenda is quasi socialist: social security,
welfare, the great society, universal health care, Medicare and Medicaid, affirmative action.
This is not new and they will protect it till they die.
The thing is that socialism gets votes if framed correctly.
Just read this piece I wrote recently.

B. Hussein Obama Meets The Nutroots
Would make an interesting title for a TV series, eh? Via Jay at Stop The ACLU, we find out the Nutroots, you know, those peaceful folks who do not curse, are teeing off on him left and right. Even saying he is aping the Right Wing Talking Points.
Barac…
So the right wing nuts don’t like him because he is talking about raising a tax, and the left wing nuts don’t like him because he is acknowledging there is a problem. Hmmm, sounds like he is speaking from somewhere in the middle. And that may be the final nail in his coffin? You people are fun to watch.
