The Holiday Tree

Posted on November 26, 2005

Political Correctness strikes the Christmas season again. If America keeps this kind of stuff up, the ACLU might just be out of a job in what is usually its busy season.

BOSTON (Reuters) - Boston set off a furor this week when it officially renamed a giant tree erected in a city park a “holiday tree” instead of a “Christmas tree.”

The move drew an angry response from Christian conservatives, including evangelist Jerry Falwell who heckled Boston officials and pressed the city to change the name back.

“There’s been a concerted effort to steal Christmas,” Falwell told Fox Television.

The Nova Scotia logger who cut down the 48-foot (14-meter) tree was indignant and said he would not have donated the tree if he had known of the name change.

“I’d have cut it down and put it through the chipper,” Donnie Hatt told a Canadian newspaper. “If they decide it should be a holiday tree, I’ll tell them to send it back. If it was a holiday tree, you might as well put it up at Easter.”

Wizbang has a photo that shows this Holiday Tree fad happening in more than just Boston.
I think this gets the green alert in our ACLU Holiday Advisory System, for Bah, Humbug, just the way they like it. However, this isn’t the way most Americans like it.

Why must we ruin Christmas by giving in to the PC police?

It is crazy, how far that state has fallen, since John Adams’ time.

(I think that he was the one who wrote the MA state constitution, which judges last year somehow discovered has, hidden within its text, a ‘right’ to same-gender marriage.)

But the plague that has been present in Massachusetts has, very [very!] unfortunately, been spreading to other states.

    [Like mine! :-( ]

Put Christ back in Christmas? He was never there. Look how we celebrate Christ’s birthday and Resurrection: decorated trees, Santa Claus, gorging on food; Easter bunnies, colored eggs…they can have this one.

Besides nowhere is there a hint that we celebrate these things. “This do in remembrance of me;” that was about the extent of it. It’s a solumn occasion, heart-wrenching to me; we’re in the end times - we have enemies to fight, starting with the Bush whitehouse; he is betraying us to Mexico, he is betraying Israel; the Gazans that were evicted from their homes, no home, no car, no money. They are living in tents. I’ve come to the conclusion that no Israeli or American will ever have a moment’s peace until Bush and Condi are no more among the living. But, Jerry, “friend of Israel,” gone quite mad from years of idolatry, can’t bother with that right now. He hired 1200 or 1500 lawyers to sue someone over a TREE? Well, we must each choose the hill we want to die on.

I think USA is going too far in Political Correctness. We are losing our identity and /or our foundation. We have made many welcomed. However, in doing so do we need to change everything about us to make everyone feel welcomed. We have always had Christmas tree. Many of have known pine trees as Christmas Tree. What are we leaving for our children, our children’s children? Are we going to change the English language to accomodate diourhs language to make them feel welcomed? Are we going to turn our nation into nation without religion?

Are we going to let the pedophiles loose so they can assimilate in to society but reoffend?
Are we going to turn murderers loose so they can feel a part of the country, so they can murder again?

Are we going to close our eyes to crooked business owners, because they are providing jobs?

Are we going to close our eyes to crooked politicians because they are providing a highway where 5 citizens will use it but it is providing jobs?

Are we going to let alcoholics back on the road because they know how much it takes to make them a menace to society?
Do we need to change what we have and have been to make others feel welcomed? Do we need to change our history to make the future more palatable for all. If we are going to revise Christams tree, then revise the history of the Indian or even the slaves. Make the argument over Christams tree and its “new name” a more historical change. What happen to our foundation? Strip it away the whole country falls.

It is time for Christians to stand up to the authoritarian Leftists who are trying to erase thge Judeo-Christian heritage and associated traditions from this country.

The USPS is complaining about e mail taking away from the income, their reason for raising the postage stamp. If they can not furnish me a religious stamp I will send all my packages either by UPS, Fed Ex or some other non government source.
