Update:

AMMAN (Reuters) - At least 23 people were killed and scores wounded on Wednesday when three suspected suicide bombers blew themselves up in three hotels in Amman, a security source said.

“At least 23 people were killed in the three blasts and many wounded,” a security source told Reuters.

Early reports from Amman, Jordan state that three hotels have been bombed, with 12 dead so far.

The first blast occurred at about 8:50 p.m. at the luxury Grand Hyatt hotel, popular with tourists and diplomats. An Associated Press reporter at the hotel counted seven bodies being taken away. Police said there were many others injured.

And Jordan is an enemy of Islam because of what again?

I know it is early to hand over blame to a radical islamic group for these bombings, but I am just going on experience and gut instinct here…..although I suppose it could be the IRA.

Not to make too obvious a connection, but Zarqawi is, of course, Jordanian. And the simultaneous nature of the blasts suggests Al Qaeda involvement.

On a related note, these hotels are all popular with both foreign journalists, security professionals, wealthy Jordanian businessmen, and Israelis. Not that any of that matters to Al Qaeda. They’ll slaughter anyone.

I remember when I was in high school, a cartoon showing a Jordanian border guard, and he was saying “Who goes there? Friend, or Israeli, or PLO, or terrorist, or… “
